The highly anticipated 2020 Proton X50 release has been making waves in the last few weeks. As people await the release of the compact crossover, The Malaysian automotive company has made bookings available for only RM500.
Various speculations on the model’s price have been circulating around the internet. With Proton X50’s premium features, we estimate a price tag close to RM 80,000.

Redefined Exterior and Interior
The sleek exterior of the X50 partnered with standard 17-inch alloy wheels, provide an enhanced road presence. On the other hand, the car’s range-topping variant has 18-inch alloy wheels.
Looking inside, it has the latest Proton logo on its steering wheel. The dash has a wide-format touchscreen powered by the Geely Smart Ecosystem (GKUI) infotainment system. Other features include an electronic parking brake, automatic air-conditioning, second-row air vents, USB charging ports, digital instrument cluster display, and selectable drive modes.

Aside from the 1.5 TGDi Flagship model, all Proton X50 models are powered by a turbo 1.5-liter multi-port injection four-cylinder engine. Generating 150 PS of power and a 226 Nm torque to reach 0 to 100kph in 7.9 seconds.
Probably the most impressive feature, the new SUV includes the same voice command from their highly successful X70 model. Both driver and passenger seats have the ability to operate the AC, touchscreen, and navigation system. The X50 will also come with USB ports, rear air vents, 12V socket, reverse camera, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.
Robust Safety Shield
Proton’s upcoming SUV is equipped with an anti-lock braking system, 4-airbags, hill start assist, hill descent control, rear ISOFIX child seat anchors, and stability control. The X50 Flagship comes with an extra feature of a Level 2 semi-autonomous driving assistance.
When do we get a hold of the Proton X50?
Proton will be bringing tough competition for the Honda HR-V, Toyota C-HR, and Ford EcoSport. The X50 will have 4 variants – Standard, Executive, Premium, and Flagship. It will be available in various colors of red, white, silver, blue, orange, and gray. 6 SRS airbags, front fog lamps, leather wrap steering wheel, and leather seats will be available from the Executive to the Flagship variant.
