Still no news from Malaysian automotive company – Proton, on the price of the new X50. The company’s management hints at appealing to a wider market than its competitors. To prepare for this month’s X50 roll-out, Proton has been holding a series of events to slowly introduce the compact crossover. Booking for the X50 has been made available since September 16 and viewing through various roadshows since September 19.
Proton X50 will have four variants – Standard, Executive, Premium, and Flagship. All variants will have a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine and 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) automatic – generating extra 174PS and 265Nm for the Flagship variant. The Geely Smart Ecosystem (GKUI) system, an exclusive standard, will run for all models. Standard and Executive versions have an 8-inch touch screen while Premium and Flagship models are upgraded to 10.25-inches.
Buyers can choose from 6 different colors for the Proton X50. Options include: Armour Silver, Snow White, Ocean Blue, Jet Gray, Passion Red, and Citric Orange. The 1.5TGDi Flagship version is distinguished with a contrasting black roof.

The Proton X50 will have a per 100 km fuel consumption of 6.4 liters for the 1.5 TGDi Flagship version and 6.5 liters for the 1.5 T Standard model. The combined cycle based on the X70 could also have been used for the fuel consumption of the Flagship 15.6 km per liter and Standard 15.4 km per liter.
